COURSE TYPE: Short-term SICS & Phaco Training

Honest Review of the Training
This is a short-term, high-yield cataract training program focused on improving surgical skills in both SICS and phaco.
Case Allocation:

~20 SICS cases

~20 phaco cases
Training Structure

First week: Dry lab + Wet lab training

Once cleared by trainer → posted in OT
Daily Schedule:

Morning classes at 7:30–8 AM

OT observation initially
-
Surgical turn usually in afternoon session
Surgical Exposure:

Typically 1 case per OT

Additional cases may be given based on performance
After completing your case, you are expected to:

Go to OPD

Select case for next day

Perform pre-op workup
Work Pattern

Cases available Monday to Saturday

Sundays off
Fees

SICS training: ~₹25,000

Phaco training: ~₹40,000
(May vary; confirm with hospital)
Note:
If selected through the ORBIS program, the training may be free.

Personal Opinion
This is a good short-term program for improving surgical confidence and gaining hands-on cataract experience in a short duration.
However, case numbers are limited, so this is best suited as a skill-enhancement course rather than comprehensive training.
